Programs

At the SSYMCA Early Learning Center we offer a variety of programs to suit the needs of our community.  Our schedules for educational programs range from half-day, extended day, to full day programs.  Part week and full week options are available for most age groups.  Programs include a nurturing and vigorously stimulating learning environment for:

Curriculum

Our highly qualified early childhood educators implement HighScope, a research based curriculum that promotes critical thinking skills & recognizes the importance of brain development and its influences on learning by doing.  HighScope addresses all curriculum areas and relates directly to NAEYC and MA  DOE standards for early childhood education.  The HighScope curriculum:

  • Emphasizes the importance of routines
  • Provides an assessment tool for all areas of child development
  • Promotes hands-on learning through exploration
  • Supports early literacy and language development
  • Helps children enter elementary school as well adjusted, and eager learners

Enrichment

At the SSYMCA Early Learning Center, enrichment programs are embedded into the curriculum to provide children an even greater opportunity to become well-rounded learners.  Depending on the age of your child, he/she will be involved in:

  • Swim programs at the Y's Emilson Branch
  • Visits from Nature Center Naturalists
  • Music and movement
  • Outdoor exploration and play
  • Gymnastics
  • Child Safety Curriculum
  • Visits from community leaders
  • Small group instruction with the HighScope Curriculum
  • Yoga
