Teen Programs

Our highly-valued Y teens celebrate the spirit, mind, and body through activities, mentoring, specialized programs, and peer partners. Staff and teens collectively focus on creativity and diversity to encourage one another to look outside of themselves in an innovative environment.

Special Programs

  • Leaders Club provides opportunities for leadership training, personal growth, service to others and social development.
  • Youth and Government brings the workings of state government alive with hands-on activities such as mock committee meetings and an annual event at the State House with youth from other Massachusetts YMCAs.
  • Earth Service Corps is a service-learning program that facilitates leadership development, environmental education and action, and cross-cultural awareness.
  • Ten Sing uses creativity through music, dance and theatre arts to develop spirit, mind, and body through the three Cs of Christ, culture and creativity.
  • Tutoring is available for teens by highly qualified teachers.
  • Teen Friendly Fridays offer fitness clinics, creative writing clinics, open art studio, coffeehouse, poetry slams, spinning, basketball, and more.
  • Arts & Humanities programs offer teens a diverse selection of opportunities to express themselves through music, dance and theatre arts.
  • Other teen activities include fitness programs and sports such as the Stryper Swim Team, tennis programs, gymnastics team, and much more.
  • Healthy lifestyles start early with our Youth Fitness and Sports Programs for teens.
  • Our Activity Center is available on a drop-in-basis for youth and teen Y members ages 7-15.

“I can’t say enough of how much I enjoy my time at the Y. It has changed my life… In my time of need, [the Y staff] have done their utmost to help me with the greatest of courtesy and compassion. I am so thankful and grateful for the opportunity to join with others in the most excellent programs at the South Shore YMCA.”
