Aquatic Programs
YMCAs have been teaching people to swim
for more than a century. In our aquatic programs, children
learn to be safe around water. They feel the sense of
accomplishment that comes with learning something new.
Youth progressive swimming is the YMCA's third most
widely offered program nationwide. It uses problem solving
approaches and guided discovery in a positive, caring
environment. Kids can develop lifelong skills that may
help them stay healthy.
Other YMCA aquatics programs include parent-child
classes, preschool classes as well as classes for adults
and seniors. These include Red Cross Lifeguard / WSI Trainings, water fitness programs, group
personal training, arthritis classes and Masters competitive
swimming for people 18 and over. Competitive programs
are also available for youth through our nationally-competitive
Stryper Swim Team and our
summer recreational Sharks Swim Team. We also offer
lifeguard training and private swim lessons. Adaptive
aquatic lessons are available for children with special
needs and disabilities.
Our Family Outdoor Center at the Mill Pond
Branch in Hanover is available to Quincy Branch Passport
Members, and includes three outdoor swimming pools and
a wading area.
