Starting at 7am on Wednesday, September 11, the Emilson YMCA will completely replace the indoor pool HVAC system at the Hale Family Aquatics Center in order to improve the Aquatics Department experience for all members and guests.
The new system will be more energy efficient and provide us with greater environmental control of the pool and air temperatures, allowing us to maintain much more consistent and comfortable temperatures.
This installation will impact both parking and pool access between Wednesday, September 11 and Friday, September 20. During this time, the Outdoor Aquatics Center (ODC) will be open daily to give our members a place to swim while the indoor pools are unavailable. See our Pool Schedules for details.
HVAC units will be delivered on Wednesday, September 11 between 6AM and 8AM. A large crane will arrive around 7AM that morning to offload the units from the trucks. During this process part of the parking lot will be closed on Wednesday, September 11 and Thursday, September 12 and could potentially remain closed for additional days if needed.
At no time will anyone be able to be in the pool area, spa area, filter room or offices of the Aquatics facility while the crane is in operation. The pool entry/exit to locker rooms will be locked and access to the Family Lockerroom area will be restricted during crane operation.
The old HVAC units will be removed from the roof on Wednesday and the space will be prepped to install the new pool HVAC units on the roof sometime Wednesday or Thursday afternoon. The installation and testing of the new system could take up to a week. The HVAC company is planning to work through the weekend to minimize how much we may be shutdown.
During this estimated timeframe, the Emilson YMCA parking lot will be blocked off at the main entry near the cross walk area. Cars and pedestrians will be restricted from the area during this time. Alternate parking by Laura’s Center for the Arts will be available if necessary. Indoor pools will be closed during this time, and potentially into the following week.
Thank you for your understanding and patience while we make these exciting improvements to our Hale Family Aquatics Center at the Emilson YMCA. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Dan Berry at firstname.lastname@example.org.
