Camp Philosophy

Our philosophy is to make the most of our opportunity to have a positive influence on the lives of children. Everything we do here at camp — every activity we lead, every decision we make, every policy we apply — is guided by the firm belief that we are responsible for the children we lead. We are responsible for showing them how to be honest, caring, respectful and responsible members of the community.

Camp Safety

Safety is our number one priority. All camps comply with YMCA Day Camp and MA Department of Public Health Regulations. We are also licensed by the Hanover Board of Health.

Inclusive Camp Programming

At Camp Gordon Clark we support a traditional camp environment that is welcoming to all campers. By partnering with families and identified support systems, campers with developmental or other challenges will be provided with the opportunity for a successful camp experience. Through the National Inclusion Project partnership, we are able to offer inclusion training for all camp staff under the direction of the SSYMCA’s inclusion leadership staff.

Directors & Staff

We take great pride in our dedicated camp staff of teaching professionals and local college and high school students who go through comprehensive camp counselor training. YMCA day camp is run by a full-time, year-round YMCA director with extensive camp experience. We also have a fully licensed nurse on-site during regular camp hours. Each year approximately 75% of our camp staff are returning counselors. All have been interviewed, and have references, CORI, and SORI background checks completed.

Camp Directors

At camp, everyone is a family. It’s like you’ve known each other your whole life. I want to be a CIT so I can pass on this great experience to younger kids. Anna
