To our South Shore YMCA Community
from our CEO, Paul Gorman
The South Shore YMCA finished the 2025 Golf Classic on a beautiful summer’s day at the Pinehills Golf Club in Plymouth, bringing happiness and energy to the “19th hole,” ready to cap off the day with food, fun, and fundraising benefiting the families of the South Shore. This year’s Golf Classic was especially meaningful for me, as it marks my final Golf Classic as CEO of the South Shore YMCA before my retirement in January 2026. It has been one of the greatest honors of my career to spend this day with so many people who have meant so much to the Y, and to me personally.
Through those 16 years, we have welcomed over 4,000 golfers and raised 2.6 million dollars for various causes over the years, including adaptive sports, our Partnership program, our medical wellness programs and, often, sending kids to camp, which our Y has been doing for more than 100 years. Our event has grown. With more golfers than ever before, record-breaking fundraising of $249,500, and incredible energy and enthusiasm from everyone who participated, this year’s event was nothing short of spectacular. Your support helps send kids to Y camps who need it most, and your impact will be felt all summer long.
Our team will admit that our golf tournament is one of the easiest fundraising events to coordinate each year. It’s not hard to ask diehard golfers to spend a day at one of New England’s premiere golf facilities. But seeing it all come together, and seeing the end results, makes the effort we put in even more worthwhile.
Our team will also admit that it’s not us that makes the day so special. It’s you. Yes, we come together for a cause, to raise funds to strengthen the South Shore community. We provide the reason, the date and time to tee off. But thanks to you, we connect. We connect business-to-business to talk about the future of our community, finding ways we can work together. We connect individually. You become supporters. In the end, we all come together as friends at dinner, celebrating long drives and closest to the pin heroics, but, more importantly, as a passionate group of people dedicated to making a brighter future for all on the South Shore.
We have so many individuals to thank, and when I think back on my 16 years and the 2.6 million dollars raised, the impact it’s all made, it’s made me realize how proud I have been to be your CEO. Thank you for all you do to support the South Shore YMCA through this event and in the work you do with us every day.
With gratitude,
Paul
