Who We Are

Laura’s Center for the Arts is home to the Emilson YMCA’s Arts & Education Department in Hanover. This state-of-the-art, 10,000-foot venue produces various facets of the arts year-round on our mainstage, outdoor amphitheater stage, gallery, and in our studios. We strive to serve our community with arts programming for all ages and abilities in our educational teaching studios, during the summer through ArtsCamp: the summer arts intensive for youth, and by supporting community-centered events both on and off the stage. Whether it be a theatrical production, a community-sponsored event, supporting music education in our schools, or your next private event, Laura’s Center for the Arts is a reflection of our community’s voice through the arts. We hope you visit us soon.

Our History

In 2013, Laura’s Center for the Arts was inaugurated to Laura Emilson-Riekert, loving supporter and instructor at the South Shore YMCA. Laura’s passion for tennis and her family’s shared love of the arts inspired many. Children responded to her enthusiastically, and her love for the South Shore YMCA’s “special kids” was always evident. Laura is greatly missed, but her memory is preserved in the name of this awe-inspiring building designed to bring the arts to delight children of all ages.

Our Mission

To provide a welcoming environment for all ages and abilities to explore and discover the wonder of the arts.
