2020 Golf Classic Helps Feed those in Need

Posted: Aug. 19, 2020 Help Feed Our Neighbors

On Monday, August 17, 160 golfers signed up to test their mettle against the challenges of the Pinehills Golf Club in Plymouth and raise funds for the South Shore YMCA at the 24th Annual Golf Classic. A cool and breezy early morning gave way to a bright and sunny afternoon, making for a perfect day to play golf in support of feeding families, seniors and neighbors on the South Shore who are struggling in these challenging times.

Thanks to the generosity of our golfers and sponsors, the 2020 Golf Classic raised $134,835! This means continued hope during these uncertain times, sustaining our food pantry at the South Shore YMCA Germantown Neighborhood Center, which has seen quadruple its normal usage during the pandemic.

Many thanks to the staff at Pinehills Golf Club, who did a fantastic job keeping everyone safe and adhering to new safety guidelines and protocols, and to you, our golfers, who worked within those altered guidelines to enjoy a fun day on the links. We truly appreciate the generosity, participation, and good company of those who joined us this year, and hope everyone will return to play at next year’s event.

For additional information about the SSYMCA’s annual Golf Classic or how you can help support the Y, our food pantry and other COVID-19 emergency relief programs, please contact Mary Orne, Vice President for Development, at morne@ssymca.org or (781) 264-9453.
