Celebrating Community at Germantown’s 2018 Appreciation Day

On Wednesday, July 25, The South Shore YMCA’s Germantown Neighborhood Center hosted their annual Community Appreciation Day 2018 in partnership with the Quincy Public Food Services Program, The City of Quincy’s Department of Planning and Community Development, and the Norfolk County District Attorney Michael Morrissey.

The event’s program featured key community leaders including Councilor-At-Large Nina Liang, District Attorney Michael Morrissey, State Senator John Keenan, a representative from the Mayor’s office, State Representative Tackey Chan, Ward One Counselor Dave McCarthy and President of the South Shore YMCA Paul Gorman.

During the awards ceremony, local community partners, businesses leaders and volunteers were honored for their contributions to the Center.

Award recipients included: Ken Howley of Walmart, who received the 2018 Business Partnership Award, Fedra Ferro, Senior Community Relationship Manager for Tufts Health Public Plans, who received the “2018 Strengthening Communities Award,” Ken Gaytan of Trader Joe’s, who received the 2018 Business Partnership Award, and Samantha Tan, who received the “Claire ‘Joni’ Brennan Legacy Award.”

Following the ceremony, there was a block party-style cookout with fun activities and games for all to enjoy.
