Community Gathers for Garden Party at the Germantown Neighborhood Center

Posted: Jun. 24, 2022

On Tuesday, June 21, the Women’s Program at the South Shore YMCA Germantown Neighborhood Center hosted a Garden Party in our beautiful neighborhood center garden. Neighbors of all ages enjoyed music and socializing, with refreshments served by mentees from the teen mentor group.

At the Garden Party, guests honored the late Cathy Birchmore, a neighbor and friend remembered for her kindness and community involvement throughout Germantown. She is remembered for her selfless devotion to the community as she gave her time to anyone in need.

The Women’s Program works to connect community members throughout the Germantown community. Neighbors are encouraged to gather and get to know each other while learning about resources, like the food pantry at the Neighborhood Center.

“Thank you to all the members of our Women’s Program who worked to plan this special day,” said Josh Esquivel, South Shore YMCA Community Outreach Director. “The Germantown Neighborhood Center is a home away from home for our community, and we want people to feel at home here and make friends. This is a place where everyone belongs. I’m excited to get more people together at the center for more events as we head into the summer.”

Thank you to all the members of our Women’s Program who worked to plan the Garden Party. To learn more about the Germantown Neighborhood Center, including volunteer opportunities in our community garden, visit ssymca.org/germantown.
