Introducing Quincy’s First Gymnastics Training Center at the South Shore YMCA
The South Shore YMCA is proud to share an exciting milestone for the City of Quincy and our YMCA community: the opening of a fully equipped, state-of-the-art South Shore YMCA Gymnastics Training Center at the Hale Family YMCA. This marks Quincy’s first-ever dedicated gymnastics facility and the South Shore YMCA’s second Gymnastics Training Center, complementing the existing Hanover location and expanding access to families across the South Shore.
A Transformational Resource for Quincy
For a city as active, diverse, and community-driven as Quincy, the addition of a gymnastics training center is more than a new space—it’s a new opportunity. Local families no longer need to travel out of town for high-quality gymnastics programming. Quincy High School students, located just across the street on Coddington Street, now have direct access to a confidence-building sport that develops strength, resilience, and leadership. Most importantly, young people of all ages have a place where they can grow, belong, and thrive.
Located within the Paul Gorman Center for Community Impact, the South Shore Y’s new 20,000-square-foot addition to the Hale Family YMCA, the 9,000-square-foot Gymnastics Training Center represents a significant investment in youth development and community wellness in Quincy.

Designed for Every Gymnast
The new Gymnastics Training Center offers a safe, modern, and inspiring environment for children and teens—from first-time gymnasts to competitive athletes. Participants can tumble, run, jump, and twist their way from foundational movement to advanced skill development on vault, bars, beam, and floor.
The facility includes:
- Spacious balance beam area with high and low training beams
- Uneven bar training areas with full sets, strap bar, and single rail with pit and mat landings
- Regulation-sized floor area
- Vault area with vault table
- Tumble track and spring floor with foam pit landing zones
Competitive opportunities are also available through South Shore YMCA Gymnastics Teams, ranging from non-competitive options to USA Gymnastics programs, with participation by invitation or tryout.
