Rodman for Kids is a non-profit that raises funds for youth-focused social service organizations in Massachusetts. The Rodman Ride for Kids event offers organizations, such as the South Shore YMCA, a platform to raise money for their programs.

QUINCY — On Saturday morning, the South Shore YMCA Quincy hosted a dozen cyclists who participated in a statewide event, Rodman Ride for Kids, which raises money for at-risk youth. The South Shore YMCA is on track to meet its goal of raising $35,000, which will support its continued programming for at-risk youth.

The Rodman Ride for Kids event usually convenes hundreds of people in Foxboro to ride 25 or 50 miles. Due to COVID-19, this year’s event went virtual so the Quincy organization planned a pop-up ride for its regularly scheduled cycling class.

Riders were socially distanced on the indoor turf field and rode 25 miles, or about 90 minutes. Instructor Catherine Vogel, who usually teaches only 30- or 60-minute classes at the Quincy YMCA, lead the class.“It was a lot of fun because it’s for a really great cause,” she said.
