South Shore YMCA Receives $20,000 in United Way Grants to Support Germantown Food Pantry

Posted: Dec. 30, 2025

The South Shore YMCA is proud to announce it has received $20,000 SNAP Rapid Relief grant through the United Way of Massachusetts Bay’s United Response Fund to support food access efforts at the Germantown Neighborhood Center Food Pantry in Quincy, Massachusetts.

This critical funding helped the Y meet the growing needs of families impacted by rising food costs and disruptions in SNAP benefits. Each month, the Germantown Food Pantry serves hundreds of households with fresh, nutritious groceries and culturally relevant staples, providing dignity and stability to families across the South Shore.

“We are incredibly grateful to the United Way of Massachusetts Bay for recognizing the urgency of food insecurity and acting swiftly,” said Katelyn Szafir, Vice President of Operations, Hale Family YMCA. “This grant enables us to continue being a vital lifeline for families navigating difficult times.”

The SNAP Rapid Relief grant strengthened the South Shore YMCA’s ability to respond with compassion, consistency, and care to the real needs of our community. Together, we’re ensuring that no neighbor goes hungry.
