South Shore YMCA Receives 2025 Step Into Swim Grant to Support Youth Swim Lessons

Posted: Mar. 17, 2025 Swim Lessons

The South Shore YMCA is honored to receive a 2025 Step Into Swim Grant in support of youth swimming lessons at the Hale YMCA in Quincy. This generous funding will help provide essential swim instruction to children in our community, ensuring they develop critical water safety skills and confidence in the water.

Drowning is a leading cause of accidental death among children, and swim lessons are a proven method of prevention. With the support of Step Into Swim, the South Shore YMCA can continue expanding access to life-saving swim instruction for families who may not otherwise have the opportunity.

“We are deeply grateful to Step Into Swim for their commitment to water safety and youth development,” said Katelyn Szafir, Vice President of Hale Operations. “Every child deserves the opportunity to learn how to swim, and this grant will make it possible for more kids to gain the skills they need to be safe and confident in the water.”
