The South Shore YMCA is proud to announce a $39,995 grant from Battelle to support the creation and execution of a comprehensive STEM education program focused on soil conservation and soil health. This innovative program will educate children and families across our Early Learning Centers, afterschool programs, summer camps, and public, homeschool, and scout programs.
“At the South Shore YMCA, we believe that healthy habitats for people and wildlife alike start from the ground up,” said Paul Gorman, President and CEO of the South Shore YMCA. “With Battelle’s generous support, we can inspire future environmental stewards by teaching the science of soil health and conservation, fostering a lifelong appreciation for sustainable practices.”
The program will provide hands-on learning opportunities, combining STEM principles with environmental education to promote awareness of the importance of soil in healthy ecosystems.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to Battelle for their commitment to fostering STEM education and sustainability. Together, we are cultivating a future generation equipped to protect and preserve our planet’s natural resources.
