SSYMCA Receives Grant from Dunkin’ Joy in Childhood Foundation to Fight Food Insecurity

Posted: Oct. 23, 2024

The South Shore YMCA is proud to announce that we have been awarded a $10,000 grant from the Dunkin’ Joy in Childhood Foundation to help fight food insecurity among children in Quincy. This generous funding will enable us to expand our efforts to provide nutritious food and resources to children and families who need it most in our community.

We are deeply honored to partner with the Dunkin’ Joy in Childhood Foundation, whose mission of bringing joy to kids facing hunger and illness aligns perfectly with our commitment to supporting the well-being of local youth. This grant will directly support our food programs, including meal distributions, healthy snack options, and educational workshops about nutrition, empowering families to lead healthier lives.

Food insecurity remains a critical issue, especially in underserved areas, and this partnership will allow us to reach more children who are at risk of going hungry. Together, we are working to ensure that every child in Quincy has access to the nourishment they need to thrive.

The South Shore YMCA Germantown Neighborhood Center Food Pantry has been providing low-income households in Quincy with fresh and non-perishable foods since 2006. Our Food Pantry allows us to assist by providing households with a week’s worth of groceries, providing critical support to hundreds of families each month. We extend our heartfelt thanks to the Dunkin’ Joy in Childhood Foundation for their trust and support in this important mission. Their generosity will have a lasting impact on the lives of many South Shore children and families.
