SSYMCA Stryper Swim Team Members Nicole Miller (Hanover), Abby Toepfer (Braintree), Elle Anthony (Milton), Clara Bodnar (Hingham) and Reilly Nussbaum (Cohasset) were recently selected to participate in the New England Swimming Girls Performance and Leadership Summit.
This two and half day summit, to be held at Simmons College in Boston, MA, will showcase some of the rising female talent and leadership within New England. These female athletes were chosen after an application process in which only 42 athletes were selected based on their swimming performance as well as their budding leadership skills. The weekend will include swimming, team building and fun with New England Swimming’s finest young women and a nationally-acclaimed coaching staff, USA National Team athletes, and NES coaches.
This summit seeks to provide female swimmers age 13-16 the opportunity to learn leadership and skills from coaches and professionals in all realms of the sport. Based off of a combination of ideas from the National/Zone Select Camps and She LEADS Summits, attendees will train and learn from expert mentors, participate in team building activities, and learn about their strengths as individuals that will help them navigate their teenage years and achieve more as students, athletes, and leaders.
Bernie Dickman, Director of Competitive Swimming for the South Shore YMCA, is one of the founders and organizers of the summit, which is being sponsored by TYR and Speedo, among others. Sue Chen (Head Coach of several Olympic gold medalists and a member of both the Canadian and USA National team coaching staffs) will be presenting at the summit, as well.
