SOUTH SHORE YMCA

Thankful for a Caring Community This Holiday Season

There is no greater demonstration of the power and generosity of our South Shore community than the holiday season. While a joyful time for many of us, this season can bring anxiety and fear for those who may not have the means for holiday gifts or healthy family meals.

It’s easy to look at the South Shore YMCA and see it simply as a “gym and swim” type of place to get healthy and socialize with friends. But the South Shore YMCA is a charity, and a community that gives back all year long. Thanks to generous supporters, the South Shore YMCA helps lift people out of poverty and despair and provides hope. They offer safe, vibrant places for people to connect within the community. While membership dues pay for the operations of YMCA facilities; donations to the South Shore YMCA add up to a pool of money the Y returns to friends and neighbors in need in its service area communities – both during the holiday season and year-round.

This year, there are several ways that people can get involved in giving back this holiday season via the South Shore YMCA. Interested persons may donate to the South Shore YMCA to help support individuals and families in need now and throughout the year. And if holiday shopping is more your style, you can purchase gifts from Holiday Giving Trees. Simply choose an ornament from Giving Trees in the Emilson (Hanover) and Quincy YMCA lobbies. Each ornament represents a holiday wish list item that you can purchase and return to the branch which will, in turn, be donated to a local family.

The South Shore YMCA raises millions of dollars each year to strengthen families and embolden communities across the South Shore. And it could not do so without the hundreds of individuals and corporations that have donated and will donate to its Annual Campaign. Whether a donation supports a local Early Learning Center, stocking the shelves of the Germantown Neighborhood Center Food Pantry or ensuring there will be another Thanksgiving meal for a local family, it changes a life.

During this holiday season, the South Shore YMCA would like to thank all of its donors, all of whom have contributed to change lives on the South Shore in 2018.
