This week, volunteers and staff from the South Shore YMCA helped pack more than 1700 Thanksgiving meals with local community partners to be donated and distributed to local families through our Germantown Neighborhood Center and to homes across the South Shore.
Each box provided families with the ingredients for a healthy Thanksgiving meal, including a full turkey, potatoes, vegetables, stuffing, gravy, and all the fixings.
Packing Thanksgiving meals has become a valued tradition of giving back to the community we work so hard to serve. Supporting our Y families with a warm meal around the holidays is so fulfilling, and reminds us why we are all thankful for what we have.
Year after year, we see the same smiling faces return to help us pack boxes, many bringing their children and grandchildren to share the experience with the next generation of givers. “It’s great to be able to give to the community this time of year and help our neighbors in need,” said Scott Warner, who joined us this year to pack Thanksgiving meals with his wife Brenda, and their eleven-year-old son Jonathan.
When we give back to the community during the holiday season, especially at Thanksgiving, we help everyone enjoy joy and excitement with their loved ones. We are so happy that we could provide some goodwill to those in need this Thanksgiving. From our South Shore YMCA family to yours, we wish you all a wonderful holiday season.
