Welcoming Our New Chief Operating Officer, Serah Selmon

We are proud to welcome Serah Selmon to the South Shore YMCA leadership team as our new Chief Operating Officer.

Serah comes to us from the Old Colony YMCA, where she most recently served as Vice President. With nearly 20 years in the YMCA movement, she brings a wealth of operational expertise, a deep commitment to community service, and a passion for strengthening and expanding the mission of the Y. As Serah shared, “The Y has been at the center of my life and career for two decades. I am honored to join the South Shore YMCA and excited to help advance the incredible work happening across this community.”

As COO, Serah will oversee operational excellence across the South Shore YMCA and its 12 locations, playing a key role in driving our bold 2026–2028 Together We Thrive Strategic Plan. Her leadership will help shape and enhance the daily experiences of our members and families—supporting program innovation, strengthening community partnerships, and ensuring our state‑of‑the‑art facilities remain welcoming, vibrant, and ready to meet the evolving needs of our diverse community.

Throughout her career, Serah has led teams and major initiatives across membership, program development, and branch operations. She is known for her collaborative leadership style, innovative thinking, and dedication to creating inclusive spaces where individuals and families can thrive. As she noted, “My priority is to listen, learn, and work alongside our staff, volunteers, and partners to build on the strong foundation that already exists here.”

Serah is off to a strong start—already diving in to support our branches and operations across the South Shore YMCA and connecting with staff, volunteers, and community partners. (We even gave her a blizzard to tackle!)
