Women’s Group Gets Crafty at SSYMCA Germantown Neighborhood Center

Women in the community got together at the South Shore YMCA Germantown Neighborhood Center this month and welcomed several new participants to the Women’s Program.  Shareca Limage, a very active member of the community, shared some of her incredible, creative talents, teaching women how to use a Cricut Maker machine.

Members of the Women’s Program group sketched beautiful and meaningful designs that were then transferred onto articles of clothing to make original shirts, tees, sweatshirts, and baby clothes.

Shareca commented that having events at the Center is a wonderful opportunity for neighbors to meet. “We are coming together to communicate, support one another, and share stories.  Until you talk with someone else you really don’t know what they may be going through and where they are in their journey.”

Dennise participated in her first women’s group. She has a Cricut Maker machine at home and thought it would be fun to see what other people are creating with their machines. “I felt welcomed and comfortable,” she said.  “It felt so nice to be included and I felt a bond with other women.  We all have a struggle but when we share our struggles we understand we aren’t alone and we get through it together.  It was a magical night for me.”
