Emilson Improvement Projects: Updated August 21, 2026

Dear Emilson YMCA Members & Friends,

As summer winds down and we look ahead to a busy fall at the Y, we’re continuing work on several exciting improvement projects at the Emilson YMCA while also completing our annual end-of-summer maintenance throughout our spaces. Here’s a look at what’s happening at our Y over the next few weeks.

Indoor Pool Sprinkler Project Update

Work continues on our indoor pool sprinkler installation project, and we remain on track with our timeline. Scaffolding is now in place throughout the Aquatics Center, and installation of the new sprinkler system is well underway.

Thank you to our members for your continued patience and flexibility while this important work is underway. We’ve loved seeing you make the most of summer at the Y, from taking lap swim and select group exercise classes outdoors to enjoying programs, classes, and activities throughout our branch. We’re counting down the days until we can welcome you back to our refreshed indoor pools!

Looking to soak up the last few weeks of summer? A limited number of prorated 2026 season passes to the Dacey Family Outdoor Aquatic Center are available due to the indoor pool closure. Please contact our Welcome Center for details and availability.Clay Tennis Court Project: Phase 2

Our indoor clay court reconditioning project is moving into Phase 2, where courts will be resurfaced, leveled, and finished with new clay. Clay courts are expected to reopen Tuesday, September 8. We appreciate the patience of our tennis community as we get the courts ready for fall play.

Preparing Our Y for Fall

Each year, the end of summer allows our team to complete routine maintenance, deep cleaning, and facility improvements as we prepare for back-to-school routines and fall fun. This year’s end-of-summer work includes:

• Laura’s Center for the Arts will receive a deep cleaning, including floor stripping and waxing, carpet cleaning, high dusting, window cleaning, and wood floor refinishing, Saturday, August 22–Sunday, August 23.
• The Hard Tennis Courts will be deep-cleaned Friday, September 4, and will reopen Saturday, September 5.
  The Gymnasium, Studio A, and Studio B will have their wood floors refinished Friday, September 4–Monday, September 7, and will be closed during this time.
• The Playroom will receive carpet washing and deep cleaning. To accommodate this and other improvement projects, the Playroom will close at 1 PM on Friday, September 4, and reopen Tuesday, September 8.
