Maple Sugaring at the Nature Center

Maple Sugaring: From Tree to Table

Discover the sweet story of maple syrup—from tree to table! Join us at the South Shore YMCA Nature Center for a hands-on exploration of maple sugaring season. Visit tapped maple trees, learn how sap is collected, watch it boil into syrup, and sample delicious maple treats along the way.

Families will explore the maple sugaring process through guided walks, live demonstrations, and nature-based activities that celebrate this beloved New England tradition and the arrival of spring. Dress for the weather—activities will take place both indoors and outdoors, and mud season has arrived!

Please note: Due to muddy field conditions after this winter’s heavy snow and rapid melt, the SSYMCA Nature Center will not host the annual Maple Day festival this year. Instead, we’re offering these smaller hands-on workshops so families can still experience the magic of maple sugaring season. We look forward to seeing you in late spring for a “Mud Day” celebration!
