WHAT IS THE RODMAN RIDE FOR KIDS?
The Rodman Ride for Kids is an umbrella matching gift charity raising funds for youth-focused social service organizations supporting at-risk kids in Massachusetts. The Rodman Ride for Kids and its affiliated charities, including the South Shore YMCA, fundraise year-round culminating each fall with the Ride event, a 25, 50 and 100-mile non-competitive cycling tour. Each affiliated charity team is assigned a fundraising goal. If that goal is met, the Rodman Ride for Kids will also award that organization a 3% matching gift.
WHY WE RIDE
At the Germantown Neighborhood Center and throughout Quincy, we help kids build resilience to reach their full potential. Combined with hope, support and dedication, our youth strive and succeed. Whether the hope is to attend college, to have a job or simply enjoy a safe place to be with friends, our unique programming is designed to bring together children and teens of diverse backgrounds through programs and services that are accessible for everyone
The South Shore YMCA Germantown Neighborhood Center is known to its members as a place in the community that provides a safe, welcoming environment with many resources that would not be available to get elsewhere.
Throughout the year, youth at the Center participate in programs such as Crafty Chef, Reading Round Up, swimming and arts and crafts. Some of the activities are within the Center, however, some take place at our Quincy branch. This provides youth with an opportunity to get out of their neighborhood.
Our teen programs include the Music Studio, Teen Friendly Fridays, Teen College Prep Workshops and Youth & Government. These programs provide teens a safe place to express their feelings while being mentored by amazing staff to prepare them for the future.
Not in school, no problem – the Center runs vacation programs that allow the youth and teens with experience they have not had before. Trips to various locations such as Wheelock Theater, our YMCA Resident Camp where the kids are encouraged to step outside of their comfort zone participating in High and Low Ropes Courses, Laser tag, bowling and many more.
Because of your generosity and support these programs exist and provide the youth of Germantown the opportunity to actively engage in programs, create relationships with each other and develop mentors within our staff.
