SOUTH SHORE YMCA

The Partnership Program is an adaptive, recreational, non-clinical fitness program designed to help individuals with physical disabilities to more fully enjoy all that the Y has to offer. Training partners assist participants with exercise to improve or maintain physical conditioning, stay active in sports, recreational and everyday activities. Specialized, adaptive exercise equipment and one-to-one exercise assistance is available through the South Shore YMCA Partnership Program. The program is recreational in nature and not to be considered rehabilitation. The Partnership Program is available as a free service to South Shore YMCA members.

How it Works

The Partnership Program offers training assistance and programs designed to fit individual needs. Volunteers and training partners provide one-to-one instruction and assistance with specialized strength and cardiovascular equipment in our Health & Well-being and Aquatic Centers.

Aquatics Center Pools

As part of the Partnership Program, the Emilson YMCA in Hanover offers adaptive swim assistance and water safety training conducted in heated family pools or lap pools. Safety is our primary concern, and each participant is under the constant supervision of our Aquatics Team. Lifeguards are permanently stationed in all pools to ensure participants can more fully and confidently enjoy water exercise and activities.

Financial Assistance Opportunities

The Partnership Program is available to South Shore YMCA members at no additional cost. Financial assistance may be available for those who cannot afford the cost of membership. Pick up an application at the Welcome Desk. This program is funded through generous donations from members, staff, friends, and businesses to our South Shore YMCA Annual Campaign.

My son was in a motorcycle accident that left him paralyzed. The Partnership Program gave him the ability to do something he enjoys. The Y has given us hope and lifelong friends!
Your Partnership Program is an amazing program, helping disabled people to improve or to just keep moving. I know it helped to extend my husband’s life. JUDITH C., Hale Family YMCA (Quincy) MEMBER
