SOUTH SHORE YMCA

South Shore YMCA Strypers – Youth Swim Team

Part of South Shore YMCA Swim Academy, the SSYMCA Strypers are a USA and YMCA year-round competitive swim team offering high quality professional coaching and technique instruction for youths of all ages and abilities. The goal of the Strypers is to provide every member an opportunity to improve swimming skills and achieve success at his or her level of ability, from novice to international competitor.

We are constantly growing and training young swimmers to maintain a well-rounded competitive swim team, embracing the YMCA’s Four Core Values of Caring, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility. With these four values in mind, we seek to develop the individual in a competitive team atmosphere to be successful in swimming and in life.

Joining the Team

The South Shore YMCA Strypers are committed to providing every swimmer with a safe environment in which they can develop the tools they need to grow personally, socially, and athletically.

Since swimming is an individual sport, each child will perform differently, each new swimmer will be placed in an appropriate practice group to see optimal progress in a relatively short time., and parents can be sure that children will get out of it as much they put into it.

Contact Coach Andy Noble at anoble@ssymca.org for details on how to join the Strypers Swim Team.

Coaches that Care

All coaches are members of the American Swim Coaches Association and complete the most comprehensive training and certification programs for youth coaches of any sport in the United States. They assure that the time children spend in swimming will be quality time.

The South Shore YMCA Strypers swim team is a YMCA program operating with the broader association structure and led by the Head Coach and YMCA Management. All “dry-side” activities are coordinated by the Head Coach through a volunteer and parent committee who meet once a month to plan and execute team events.

BK, South Shore Strypers Swim Team Member:

Swimming has taught me dedication, teamwork, and the confidence it takes to go for it and leave no regrets behind. The YMCA gave me the opportunity to push myself every day and chase my goals.
