Celebrating 30 Years of Impact at the 2026 South Shore YMCA Golf Classic

The South Shore YMCA welcomed more than 240 golfers to Pinehills Golf Club on Wednesday, July 8, for the 30th Annual South Shore YMCA Golf Classic. With beautiful summer weather and outstanding course conditions, the day was a wonderful celebration of three decades of golf, generosity, and community in support of the Y’s mission.

The celebration was made even more meaningful by the incredible generosity of everyone involved. This year’s Golf Classic raised a record-breaking $254,000, the most ever raised in the event’s history, to help provide life-changing opportunities for children and families through South Shore YMCA camps, youth programs, financial assistance, and more.

A DAY TO REMEMBER

“This event is a major investment in our mission,” said South Shore YMCA President & CEO Trevor Williams. “Every day, we serve thousands of children through our many programs, including camp, and without the generosity and support of everyone here today, we couldn’t do all the great things we do for these families. Thank you for making that possible.”

Event emcee David Lombardo of Lombardo’s Hospitality Group also reflected on the impact of the evening’s generosity. “The true impact of the YMCA isn’t measured in dollars,” Lombardo said. “It’s measured in lives changed, friendships formed, confidence gained, and opportunities created. The support raised tonight helps ensure every child and family has the opportunity to learn, grow, and thrive, no matter their circumstances.”

This year’s tournament featured several new experiences that made the day even more memorable for golfers. One of the biggest highlights was Putt for Dough, a new contest that added another layer of fun while creating opportunities for Y staff to connect with golfers throughout the day.

The evening program was once again led by Mix 104.1 morning show co-host Karson Tager, who returned as the event’s live auctioneer. Before kicking off the auction, Tager reflected on the connection he and co-host Kennedy Elsey have developed with the South Shore YMCA.

“Kennedy and I have come to know and love the South Shore YMCA,” Tager said. “The Y has been part of my life since I was a kid, and now my own son gets to experience that through Camp Burgess. He’s made friendships that will last a lifetime. Kids from all different backgrounds come together to create memories they’ll carry with them forever. That’s why we’re here today.”

The live auction also reached new heights thanks to the extraordinary generosity of Mark Milhench and Carl Christenson, who each doubled their auction donations, allowing the YMCA to offer two unforgettable golf experiences at Sankaty Head Golf Club and Boston Golf Club.

Thank you to the golfers, sponsors, volunteers, donors, community partners, and Golf Classic Committee members whose hard work and generosity made this year’s event our most successful yet. Because of your support, more children and families across the South Shore will have access to the programs, experiences, and opportunities they need to learn, grow, and thrive.
