Locker Room, Restroom & Changing Room Options at the South Shore YMCA

Our goal at the South Shore YMCA is to make sure everyone has a comfortable locker room, restroom, and/or changing room space that best meets the needs of each individual and family. The following outlines the options available at our YMCA to help you make the best choice for you and/or your family.

Adult Female Locker Room – 18+

This full-featured locker room is equipped with lockers for secure storage of personal items, toilets, sinks, hairdryers, showers, and individual changing stalls. This locker room is designated for use by those who are 18 years of age or older and identify as female. Use by female children 17 years of age and under should not occur in this locker room. Those identifying as a male of any age are not allowed in this locker room.

Adult Male Locker Room – 18+

This full-featured locker room is equipped with lockers for secure storage of personal items, toilets, sinks, hairdryers, and showers. This locker room is designated for use by those who are 18 years of age or older and identify as male. Use by male children 17 years of age and under should not occur in this locker room. Those identifying as a female of any age are not allowed in this locker room.

Youth Female Locker Rooms – Under 18

This full-featured locker room is equipped with lockers for secure storage of personal items, toilets, sinks, showers, and individual changing stalls. This locker room is designated for unaccompanied use by those who are 12-17 years of age and identify as female. This locker room is also designed to accommodate adults accompanying minors 0-11 years of age of the same identifying female gender. Those identifying as a male of any age are not allowed in this locker room.

Youth Male Locker Rooms – Under 18

This full-featured locker room is equipped with lockers for secure storage of personal items, toilets, sinks, showers, and individual changing stalls. This locker room is designated for unaccompanied use by those who are 12-17 years of age and identify as male. This locker room is also designed to accommodate adults accompanying minors 0-11 years of age of the same identifying male gender.
Those identifying as a female of any age are not allowed in this locker room.

Universal Locker Room – All Ages & Genders

This multi-purpose, gender-neutral, locker room space is designated for use by all — in particular, families with children infant to 11 years of age where a parent/adult supervision is present. This space includes multiple private changing rooms, each containing a private shower, toilet, sink, baby-changing table, and changing space. This space also includes a hallway with common sinks, mirrors, hair dryers, and lockers, with access to our pools.

• Private Changing Rooms with showers are available within this space.
• Each Private Changing Room includes a shower, toilet, sink, and baby-changing table.
• Universal Locker Room space includes a common area where all individuals must remain fully clothed.
• Common-area lockers are available for the secure storage of personal items
• Common-area, sinks, mirrors, and stroller parking areas are available.
• Two private Nursing Rooms are available (Emilson YMCA)
• Private changing rooms are to be used by one individual or family group at a time. Please be sure to lock the door upon entering.
