Group Leaders

Description

  • This position is responsible for assisting Site Coordinators with planning, execution and overall operation of a high quality after school site which will promote the YMCA’s core values of youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility and encourage lifelong learning
  • Must be able to demonstrate high quality member service to program participants, families, members, and volunteers
  • This is a part time, after school position operating Monday through Friday

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Experience with school age children
  • The ability to develop positive, effective working relationships with staff, children, families, volunteers, school administrators
  • The ability to interact with families and address needs/concerns in a positive and professional way while reflecting an attitude that values diversity

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to: climb stairs, bend, stoop, kneel, twist, reach with hands, sit, stand for an extended period of time, walk, lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, have finger dexterity, grasp, perform repetitive motions, talk, hear and have visual acuity. Activities that may be required as part of the job are climbing, running, swimming and other outdoor activities.

Site Coordinators

Description

This position works under the general direction of the Director of Afterschool Programs and is responsible for curriculum planning, family engagement, supervision and care of children in the After School and/or Before School.

  • This fabulous job opportunity is a part time position (29.5 hours or less ) with both before school hours and/ or after school hours operating Monday through Friday at one of the Scituate Elementary Schools. Additional hours are available during school vacations at the Emilson YMCA and some (non-closure) holidays
  • Successful candidates with a desire to work with young children must be at least 20 years of age, have a high school diploma and minimum experience of 1 year working with school age children (or 6-9 months with a degree)
  • Successful candidates should provide community leadership for family/child development, encourage life-long learning in students, promote the YMCA’s core values, and show commitment to the Y’s three areas of focus: Youth Development, Healthy Living, and Social Responsibility

Requirements

All educators employed by the South Shore YMCA Afterschool Program will be required to complete the following trainings included in our on-boarding process; ( Y paid) CPR/First Aid, OSHA and Emergency Procedures, Child Abuse Prevention and Reporting, and South Shore YMCA Afterschool orientation including EEC requirements and professional development trainings including our all staff professional development day in January.

After School: Monday – Friday 2:45 pm – 6:00 pm
