SOUTH SHORE YMCA

Physical activity — vital for our health and wellness — can be a challenge for individuals with physical disabilities and mobility impairments. The South Shore YMCA Adaptive Sports, Exercise & Recreational programs ensure all Y members have the opportunity to belong, participate, play, and have fun.

Stephen Kuketz was left blind in one eye and became a paraplegic after a car accident in 1991. After joining the South Shore YMCA Partnership Program, Steve was introduced to the Paramobile Golf Cart and is now playing golf internationally.

An Adaptive Overnight Camp Experience Comes to Life

South Shore YMCA Camp Burgess for boys on Cape Cod partnered with our friends at Spaulding Adaptive Sports Center to create an overnight camp experience that could be shared by three brothers of the Flanagan family. One of the brothers is living with Cerebral Palsy, yet was able to enjoy all the things his brothers enjoyed, including swimming, canoeing, recreational activities, ziplining and, most importantly, beating fellow campers at wheelchair basketball. Thanks to the support of our community partners and donors, adaptive programs like this are possible.

Support Adaptive Programming at the South Shore YMCA

Our Adaptive Programs are available to our members at no additional cost thanks to the generosity of our donors. Your donations can help expand these programs and ensure they are accessible to all through financial assistance and program development.
